Dogs barking sounds may not mean anything to many people. They are simply taken as part of the dog's vocal routine. They may also find it so annoying especially when dogs bark at night. Dogs make such sounds when they see strangers. Most commonly, it serves as security for many homes. People may not know it, but they make such sounds to communicate with people. There are not many studies done to explain or to understand the reason why dogs bark. Why they sound differently from their root, wolves. The latter also bark but more often than not, they howl. They usually do this when something needs to be taken care of and want the thing to be stopped or obtained by calling the attention of the person involved. Common examples of situations that push dogs to create warning barks are when the phone is ringing, bussing car outside or a ringing bell.

Aside from the warning and alarm dogs barking sounds, dogs can also create other types of barks especially when they are trained to do so. Dogs can be trained to bark whenever their master commands them to or they can also stop the barking sound when they are requested to stop. Dogs also tend to create barking sounds when playing.
