Dogs barking sounds may not mean anything to many people. They are simply taken as part of the dog's vocal routine. They may also find it so annoying especially when dogs bark at night. Dogs make such sounds when they see strangers. Most commonly, it serves as security for many homes. People may not know it, but they make such sounds to communicate with people. There are not many studies done to explain or to understand the reason why dogs bark. Why they sound differently from their root, wolves. The latter also bark but more often than not, they howl. They do it to convey messages. Opposite with dogs, they do not bark as loud as possible. Dogs barking sounds serve as alarm for possible danger. As a stranger gets nearer, his barking sounds get louder. He alarms his master's household that there may be a threat for the family. They protect the house against intruders. It's also one of the reasons why certain breeds of dogs are pricier than others. There are hunting breeds of dogs, which bark even louder and more vocal then their counterparts. A dog barks when it's excited, lonely, scared, and feels other types of emotions. It may also feel neglected or hungry. It also makes sounds when he sees other dogs coming near. He also barks when he hears an unfamiliar noise. Sometimes, there's no other reason but a habit to make barking sounds. He may also be anticipating that you're going to leave him alone. With this, he foresees that he'll be alone for the rest of the day. There are two dogs barking sounds: warning and alarm bark. Warning bark is characterized by the volume of the bark. It begins from low going to high pitch howl. They want to show aggression and dominance. It happens when there's an anticipated threat. It's the time he feels the urgency of fighting for his territory and defending himself. On the other hand, alarm bark is a dog's hostile method of catching his master's eyes. He won't knock it off, unless his needs are attended to. Situation examples are: car buzzing outside, ringing bell and incoming phone call.
Dogs barking sounds are sometimes becoming so disturbing. It calls for your attention at anytime of the day, especially during sleeping hours. As it may sound too annoying, proper training should be given to dogs. Their masters have to give them puppy training at an early stage. Teach them what situations call for dog barking sounds. However, it won't give any help if you're going to sooth your dog for it won't stop the barking. Try to reinforce his behavior. Discipline your dog when it's needed because if not, his poor behavioral traits might get worse. Make him feel that his too much barking annoys you.
Just like other animals, dogs also create sounds and communicate through barking. Dogs have different breeds and their barks may vary depending on their breed, size and age. Barking dogs does not necessarily entail aggression. Some people think that barking is just part of the dog's behavior while some even get annoyed especially when the barking becomes very loud and noisy for the human ear. Dogs barking sounds usually mean warning and alarm call. Dogs bark to communicate and call attention not only to their fellow species but also to communicate with the humans around them. Some dogs also tend to bark frequently when seeing some strangers. There are still no specific researches or studies that could explain the exact meaning of dogs barking sounds. But based on some common behavioral explanation on dogs' barks and sounds, there are several types of dog barks with various meanings. First type of barking is the warning bark. Dogs usually emanate warning barks by howling from low pitch to high pitch and sometimes even baring their teeth to show dominance and aggression when they feel threatened. Another common barking sound is the alarm barking. Alarm barking is usually done by dogs to attract the attention of their master or to anyone that they want to communicate. They usually do this when something needs to be taken care of and want the thing to be stopped or obtained by calling the attention of the person involved. Common examples of situations that push dogs to create warning barks are when the phone is ringing, bussing car outside or a ringing bell. Aside from the warning and alarm dogs barking sounds, dogs can also create other types of barks especially when they are trained to do so. Dogs can be trained to bark whenever their master commands them to or they can also stop the barking sound when they are requested to stop. Dogs also tend to create barking sounds when playing. People relate the sounds to the happy and playful behavior of dogs especially when they are enjoying what they're playing.
